Description

Summer usually beckons for light cool recipes. But sometimes you needs some Southern comfort, even if it is in the middle of summer. These quick chops and green beans are a quick fix for a rich satisfying meal.

We Provide
  • 2, 5 Oz. Pork Chops
  • 1 Egg
  • ½ Cup Flour
  • 2 Oz. Mushrooms
  • 1 Teaspoon Beef Base
  • 6 Teaspoons Whole Milk
  • ¾ Lbs Green Beans
  • 1 Oz. Whole Roasted Almonds

  • Sauté Pan
  • Sauce Pan

  • 2, Shallow Dishes
  • 1 Cup Water

Fill sauce pan ¾ full with water. Cover, place over high heat and bring to a boil. While that heats up prep the breading. Place the flour (reserving 2 tablespoons for the gravy) into a shallow dish and season liberally with salt and pepper. Crack the egg into the other shallow dish and whisk until the whites and yolk are totally combined.

Set aside and prep your green beans. Remove the tough stem that was attached to the plant. Thinly slice the mushrooms. Once the water in the pan has come to a boil, season with salt and add in the green beans. Boil for 3 minutes. At the end of the 3 minutes, strain off and run under cool water to stop the cooking.

While your green beans cook, preheat a sauté pan over high heat with 4 tablespoons olive oil. While that heats up, bread your pork chops. Dip the chop into the beaten egg, and then into the seasoned flour making sure it is totally covered.

Once the oil in the pan just starts to smoke, reduce heat to medium and add in the breaded chops. Cook for 4 minutes over medium heat on both sides. Once the green beans are cooked and strained, place back into the sauce pan and season with olive oil, salt and pepper. Roughly chop the almonds and add on top. Set aside until plating.

Once the chops have cooked through and the breading is nice and golden brown, remove from pan. Add in sliced mushrooms and cook over medium heat for 4 minutes. Then add remaining 2 tablespoons flour and stir into drippings. Combine beef base with 1 cup warm water and stir to combine. Add in the broth and milk. Stir to combine and bring up to a simmer. Cook over medium heat until thick.

To plate, add half of the almond green beans to a plate. Place a pork chop next to the green beans and top with gravy.
